Garrett at 8 Weeks

Garrett is growing and changing so much! We go to the doctor next week, so I will be anxious to see how big he has gotten. I just love watching him develop. He is beginning to smile a lot, mostly at his big brother. Can't wait to capture those smiles!

Connor says the craziest things!

The words that come out of Connor's mouth keep Jason and I laughing on a regular basis. Our little guy is not shy in the least and will talk to anyone who passes by. (A trait he inherited from his father!!!) Here are some of the funny things that he says...

* "Oh! No!" - This comes before almost every sentence!

* When he counts the number 11 sounds like he is saying, "I love you."

* "The witch is coming!" - We have no idea where he came up with this one.

* He always calls Garrett, baby brother. When I feed Garrett he always says, "Baby brother is hungry!" He also asks where baby brother's burp cloth is.

* He will shout, "Wheel of Fortune!" "This is Jeoparpee! (Jeopardy!)" and "GeoTrax, All Aboard!" when watching those shows.

* He will ask to watch "Dancing," or So You Think You Can Dance, which is my favorite show.

* He knows that the fire dancer stands for Dave Matthews Band, and if you show him a Dave Matthews CD, he will tell you that it is Dave Matthews.

* One of our favorite things that he says is "Ummmm.....Nope!" It is never, "No," just "Ummmm....nope!"

* He says, "Hello, Mommy!" "Hello, Daddy!" "Hello, Baby Brother!" all throughout dinner. You must respond with "Hello, Connor!" He will also say "Hello" and "Bye, Bye" to anyone we pass on a walk or in a store.

*When you tell him to say" Have a nice evening," he will ALWAYS say, "Have a nice day!" I guess day is easier to say than evening.

I know I am forgetting a ton of the funny stuff that he says to us on a daily basis. These are just some of the things that he says that I wish I could bottle up and keep forever!

Connor at 2 1/2

I love my big red car!!!

Going on a ride with Daddy!

Super cute in my Cozy Coop!

Connor had his 2 1/2 year check-up today, and he must have gone through a growth spurt. He is usually in the 20th percentile, except for his head size that is in the 95th!!! Today he was in the 45th for both height and weight! He weighs 29 lbs and is 36 1/2 in, tall. Here are some interesting tidbits about my oldest son.

* He is a runner! If there was a cross country camp for toddlers, we would put him in it. When we go to the park he spends 5 minutes on the playground and the rest of the time running around. When we go swimming he spends about 30 minutes in the pool and the rest of the time trying to run around the deck of the pool. Needless to say, I don't go many places with him without help!

* He still loves his binky. We tried to take it away in April and were doing well, but then when we transitioned to his big boy bed we needed it again!! Now with his baby brother here, I don't want to take it away yet. My goal is to take it away by Sept when I go back to work.

* He loves to dance and most of all loves to dance to the Wiggles. We have my daycare provider to thank for introducing him to the Wiggles. He will copy their movements and really dance on beat. He also enjoys watching So You Think You Can Dance with me from time to time. He will follow their moves as well. We know he won't have the size to be a football player, so maybe a dance career is in his future??

* He is very, very verbal. He loves to ask the same questions all the time. He always begins his questions with, "Oh, no!" Then he says, "What happened to...?" or "Where is..." His face also lights up when he asks them.

* He is a numbers man. He is able to count to almost 20 and can pick out numbers if they are all mixed up. He can also count backwards from 10. He is good with most of his shapes and colors. We have a long way to go with letters, but that is OK for now.

* He is very animated and not a shy kid at all. He will scream "Hi!" to anyone he sees, and "See you later!" when they leave.

*Even though he can be super cute and super fun, there are several things I can't wait for him to outgrow. We are working on him not throwing his plate of food on the floor when he is done eating. When he gets mad the kicks at the door and screams. I am also ready for him to not want to wander so much and stay by me. I would love to take him to more parks, but right now it is exhausting!!

We love our little dude with all our hearts!!

One Month Old and Growing Like a Weed!

Here are Garrett's one month stats...
Weight - 8 lbs 14 oz. - 26th percentile
Length - 21 1/4 in. - 40th percentile
Head Size - 15 in. - 48th percentile
He has gained quite a bit of weight and grew a lot this first month. He started off a pound and a half lighter and one inch shorter than Connor and caught up to almost his same measurements by his one month check-up. The main difference between them is their head size. Connor's head has always been in the 95th percentile for his age. Garrett's head is MUCH smaller!!
As for personality, Garrett is a typical newborn. He likes to be held. His fussy time is between 9:30 and 11:30 at night, which is hard on Mommy. He wakes up every 3-4 hours to eat still. Connor began sleeping through the night at 8 weeks, so I am hoping that Garrett will follow that same pattern. We have seen a couple of smiles out of him. Mostly he smiles when he is sleeping and Daddy is stroking his head. He also flipped from his tummy to his back today. I put him on his tummy and turned around to change Connor's diaper. When I turned back around to get him, he was on his back. Both Jason and I missed it!!! We will see if it is just a freak thing, or if we can get him to do it again.
Jason and I are getting used to our new normal with two boys. The only thing I know for sure is that just when we begin to find a new routine, something will change and we will have to adapt and change with it!!
